TAKING NEW YORK CITY BY STORM AND BY SUN!
We came, we saw and we took the Wall Street Bull by its balls and shook Manhattan up…even when it rained! Meeting up with my sister and
god-son in NYC meant…lots and lots of walking, sight-seeing and talking! We left no corner, sight or stranger unturned!
As always, click on the photos if you want to see the whole album!
I think my sister and I outshine the NYE Ball!

Who knew there were so many mostly naked famous men in Times Square? Larry the Cable guy took up space along side The Naked Cowboy for an afternoon. We also saw Ben Stiller, Edie Falco and Jennifer Jason Leigh in the On Broadway show, The House of Blue Leaves, from 5th row matinée seats! A dark comedy on a dark rainy day is a great way to spend your NYC time! And ending our star seeing streak, we saw Jim Belushi coming out the back door of a theater!

We were in NYC for the announcement of Bin Laden’s Death. No we were not some of the people who were in the streets celebrating. But, in honor of 9/11 we did go to Ground Zero, probably hours before Obama was there (we knew this by the large amount of black suits and media).

We waited and boated our way to both Liberty and Ellis Islands on a wonderful sunny day. The Statue, the history, the water, the skyline and the bridges…you can’t get more New York City than that! Throw in a funny 19-year-old and a picture-taking crazy Uncle you got yourself some good times!

Then there was Pizza and Cannolis in Little Italy. Jim had to have a good New York Pizza and in search of it we went. We landed at Lombardi’s, according to our waiter, America’s First pizzeria! When you have a super friendly sister who chats up the waiter, what do you get? A photo in the kitchen in front of the original coal brick oven!

And to end up the family portion of this week-long family trip to New York City, we saw even more family! Around 6 cousins and an 87-year-old Great Aunt. We had a nice lunch at the house that Aunt Anne was not only born in, but has also lived there her entire life. After lunch the Cousins went to the Bronx Zoo…where we fit in quite well!

I apologize to my family for the following video!
Sad to see my sister and nephew leave, it was a great week with them! We had some time to hit Dumbo in Brooklyn with some friends before heading northward. A great hood we had never been to before, very urban simple with loud highway/bridge/subway train noise but also right on the water with wonderful views and parks!

And to finish off our 7 day spree, we landed in Montclair, NJ to hang with the more friends in their new New Jersey digs! Quiet, breezy, easy Montclair! So close to New York City yet so far away. We had a nice dinner, we caught up, and has us some super fun 3-year-old fun time!

And after all that, we needed 3 days to recoup! No walking, eating, drinking or talking for 3 whole days! Yeah, right!
