THE ELUSIVE NEW ENGLAND MOOSE!
We have lived in New England for 16 months now and we have traversed the highways, bi-ways, and back country roads through this land constantly seeing “Moose Crossing” signs and to no avail seeing no actual moose!
So we set out to hopefully see some moose…and this was our journey:
– Finding two stretches of roads famed for their moose sightings.

We only wish we saw that moose!
– Getting to “no where” (Whitefield), but beautiful, north New Hampshire.

– Being forced to stay at an old wonderful resort in said “no where.”

– Driving up to over 6000 feet altitude (top of Mt. Washington) in first gear on an old winding steep road.

– Waiting at the border for Canada to let us in (apparently Canadians do not let us Americans in until 8:00am).

– Traveling into another country and going 4 hours out of our way.

– Having to fill our bellies on wonderful Canadian French bread, cheeses, pate, and pastries.

My favorite….
– Being forced by the long hand of the Homeland Security Law to stay put for our longest immigration process ever…especially for our shortest visit to a foreign country (approximately 2 hours).

I was not able to take photos of this event…but felt “stung” for having our car rummaged through!
– Stopping for personal breaks (two of those just happened to be antique stores with bathrooms)!

– Then finally hitting the second of the two “Moose Allies” on our way to Bar Harbor, Maine.

Although we only got to see one female moose…we believe, even more now, that New England is freakin’ beautiful!
